With tools like Ally, the glasses can assist in real-time interpretation and engagement during fast-paced discussions.%u2019Upon learning that he would be receiving a pair of Smart AI Glasses, fourth-year Bachelor of Science student Mr Bright Sello was overcome with emotion, %u2018For the first time, I feel like I won%u2019t be left behind. I can do things on my own, read my notes and slides in the lecture hall and recognise my friends. I finally have control,%u2019 he said. Sello, who is partially sighted, struggled to navigate the academic environment. Lectures were particularly daunting for him. %u2018I often sat in class unable to follow along because I couldn%u2019t read what was on the screen or see what the lecturer was pointing to,%u2019 he said. %u2018I had to rely heavily on classmates or tutors after hours to help me catch up, which made me feel like I was always lagging behind.%u2019The introduction of the glasses marks a transformative shift in his academic journey. %u2018Now, I won%u2019t have to depend on others all the time,%u2019 said Sello. %u2018It%u2019s not just about being able to see the material %u2013 it%u2019s about regaining my independence, dignity and the confidence to fully participate in my own education.%u2019Speaking to the five students benefiting from the glasses, Mr Bright Sello and Ms Londiwe Ndabaare thrilled to receive the Smart AI Glasses.
