📌 Overview
The #IMadeADoctor campaign is an initiative by UKZN’s Medical Campus Representative Council (MCRC) to raise funds for medical students facing financial exclusion due to historical debt. With the support of the UKZN Foundation, this campaign aims to ensure that aspiring doctors are not denied access to education because of financial constraints.
🎯 Project Goal
The project seeks to raise R9 million to settle the outstanding debt of medical students at UKZN who are unable to register for the academic year. While R800,000 has already been raised, more support is urgently needed to help more students continue their studies and graduate as future healthcare professionals. The long-term vision is to eliminate financial exclusion within the College of Health Sciences.
💡 Why Your Support Matters
Behind every doctor is a story of dedication, sacrifice—and sometimes, the generosity of others. This year, traditional sources of funding are no longer available. Without immediate assistance, many passionate and talented students may not return to class. Your donation can literally keep a future doctor in school. You won’t just support a student—you’ll help save lives.
🎁 How You Can Help
You can make a difference in the following ways:
- Once-off donations to reduce a student’s debt.
- Monthly pledges to support students throughout the academic year.
- Corporate or alumni giving to contribute meaningfully to the health sciences.
- Legacy gifts or memorial donations to honour loved ones through education support.
All donations are tax-deductible, and donors will receive an official Section 18A tax certificate.
