MerSETA Funds Practical Training and Bursaries FOR UKZN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTSMELISSA MUNGROO & STEVE CAMPThe University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) is set to strengthen the practical capabilities of its Mechanical Engineering students thanks to generous support from the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA). As one of 21 Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) established by the South African government, merSETA plays a crucial role in promoting skills development across the country%u2019s manufacturing and engineering industries.MerSETA has made significant funding available to support both academic bursaries and a hands-on training initiative through this latest partnership with UKZN. The funding will benefit undergraduate students in the School of Engineering, with a particular focus on empowering those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.Mechanical Engineering students will have the opportunity to gain structured practical experience during their mid-year break.
